Theeeyyy’rrrre heeerree! Those giant sneezes that are filled with projectile boogers…the constant sniffling…and the yukky streaks on the sleeves of my kid’s shirts. All signs of, as I call it, the back to school sniffles.
Thieves all the way in this house! I make a roller ball bottle with jojoba and thieves for my son and it goes on him EVERY morning before he leaves and again when he comes home from school. When he does get these sniffles, I also do a more concentrated dilution on his back with olive oil and thieves as an additional support for his immune system.
This year the BtSS came before I expected. We’re only two full weeks into school and the booger manufacturing started in earnest on Monday night. They were gone by Thursday night – with in 36 hours. Nothing else in his life changed; he still attended school, sports, played with friends and ran around as usual. He didn’t even sleep extra, didn’t get any OTC meds. Clearly I did not get the Thieves on him early enough this year, but we’re plowing through and this first round is gone.
Then there’s me, I’m the kind of person that if someone with a cold even just looks at me, I catch their cold. Not this time! As soon as he started with the BtSS, I slathered myself in straight thieves oil every morning and before bed, on my hands during the day diluted with olive oil instead of hand cream, and its been in the diffuser all week. We found that bed sharing/co-sleeping is the best way for my son to stay asleep at night. We’ve also found that, when sharing a bed with a person who has BtSS, those sniffles tend to be shared super easily. I’m extra diligent with using thieves when those sniffles come home, as everyone knows life sucks when mom is sick in bed (if she actually can be sick in bed). So far, no cold for me. YAY!
I’d love to know if you try it at home, and what you think it smells like. Leave a comment below with your take on this combo of stress away and thieves.
