Mama mama! look what I made at school today! Screaming into the house, running at full speed as usual, in comes Bubs. I need your oils! It needs to smell like rain.

WHAAT, I said? Come show me, what you have, and we’ll figure out what you need.

I need rain oils! Okie dokie dude, slow down and show me.  Close your eyes, its a surprise, and hold out your hand. He places in my hand something fuzzy with a long ????TAIL???. My eyes snapped open as I said WHAT THE HECK…. oh. Its a cloud!!  DUUUUDE its blinking!!

I know I made it myself!

Oh right. Today was STEAM day at school. Apparently the first graders learned about lightening, storm clouds and electricity.

This is Bubs talking to the computer. He would like to share with you, in his words, how to make the storm cloud.

This is a storm cloud necklace. It has a light bulb, a battery,  some kind of tape, a paperclip and a piece of string and then you knot it and then you have wrap the puffy stuff around the paperclip and the light bulb and then you put a piece of tape around the puffy stuff and its a storm cloud.  What does it say? Haha its copying me! LOOK!!

So that’s what he needed rain oils for – to make his storm cloud smell like rain.  So we went to the oil box and looked through it. He smelled about 20 of them before he said naaa. Lets find a recipe on the computer.  Hee hee smart kid – dont know why mamma didnt think of that first. (insert rolly eye emoji here)

Young living has a blog, called The Lavender Life, and a really comprehensive Facebook page.  They’re usually my first reference place after I check my cross-line and up-line Facebook groups.  There’s SO much information and education about essential oils on this blog, along with recipes for diffuser blends, DIY projects, and just fun stuff.  You should check it out.

I found this Spring rain recipe on Young Living’s facebook page and mixed it up for him.  Its a bright, fresh, happy scent that reminds me of late April in New England. He says to me, Oh mamma, its PERFECT!  Lets put it on the cloud.

Its now hanging in our front window still blinking after 4 days because there’s no on/off switch.  Its battery powered and will shut off when the battery dies. Since Halloween, its been highlighting the ghost balloons in the window and helping to scent the air in the living room.  And although its Halloween time, my livingroom smells like spring. I love fall and the colors and cozy scents, but at this time of year, I love spring more. Spring is the forerunner of warm days and me not freezing. (In the summer my favorite is fall – ya know – you want what you dont have)

Every time he walks by he smiles to himself.  I can just hear the voice in his head proudly saying, “I did that, its cool.”

What cool things have you done lately that  you look at and say “ I did that. I’m proud of it.”?
