Carrier oils are what they sound like. An oil, other than the essential oils you’re working with, that carries another oil. The carrier oils I use most are castor, jojoba (which is actually a wax), coconut and olive oil. I use a carrier oil for the specific properties of it, to dilute an essential oil and to stretch out an essential oil so I wont use it up so fast.
Lindsey Elmore is an amazing woman. An author, a blogger, a pharmacist and a person who’s opinion I trust because of the research she does.
She has a spectactular blog post about carrier oils that goes indepth as to what to use, for what purpose, and why. Check out her post, A Guide to Choosing the Best Carrier Oil, and then decide which one you should use.
