Blessings. I have many blessings in my life. When I get cranky because there’s too much life, I have a mantra: “I am blessed to have dirty dishes, it means I ate. I am blessed to have laundry to wash, it means I am clothed.” How do you count your blessings?
Cypress oil has a fresh, evergreen scent that blends really well with a lot of other oils including mint oils, citrus oils, and is especially amazing when blended with florals. The oil is distilled from all parts of the plant, leaf/nut/stem, except the root. The chemical structure of the oil contributes to its renewing and uplifting fragrance. Aromatically, cypress produces a clean aroma that may be both invigorating and grounding.
Jasmine is one of my favorite scents. There are SO many plants where we stay in Georgia, on St. Simon’s Island. The air is so sweetly scented, I just want to bottle it up to take home. It takes more than 10 pounds of flowers to make one 5 ml bottle. The flowers must be picked at night before sunrise in order to maximize the fragrance. Jasmine is an absolute, rather than an essential oil. Absolutes are similar to essential oils. They are concentrated, highly aromatic, oily mixtures. Oils are produced by distillation, boiling or pressing, and absolutes are produced traditionally, through enfleurage. .
