Each month I like to highlight a local Massachusetts business. As you read through this blog you can see in our house we try to shop, eat and play local. This monthly spotlight is a way for me to help out other businesses and give a teeny bit back to the community in which we live.

If you know of a Massachusetts business that might like to be in the spotlight for a month, please shoot me a note here.

August’s spotlight is the Assabet Village Co-op Market

Assabet village coop road to opening day

The Assabet Village Co-op Market is building a full-service, community-owned grocery store that sources from more than 100 local farms and producers. The target location is Maynard, and [they have] more than 1,200 Owners on board and site negotiations underway.

Across the country, co-ops are going above and beyond to show why we’re so much more than community-owned grocery stores:
– Sourcing from LOCAL farms and producers to keep shelves full, communities fed and local businesses afloat
– Putting every penny of profits back into their local economies
– Providing free curbside pickup and delivery
– Holding charity drives for local nonprofits
– Caring for co-op workers’ health and financial security
– Even delivering medicine to seniors

The need for community-owned grocery stores has never been greater, and we’re psyched to make a meaningful impact by opening OUR Assabet Village Co-op Market right here.
