Each month I like to highlight a local Massachusetts business. As you read through this blog you can see in our house we try to shop, eat and play local. This monthly spotlight is a way for me to help out other businesses and give a teeny bit back to the community in which we live.

September’s Spotlight is Mr. Trashman!
Mr. Trashman currently provides weekly trash and recycling collection in the towns of Acton, Berlin, Bolton, Boxborough, Concord, Harvard, Hudson, Littleton, Stow and Sudbury. Offerings include weekly or bi-weekly pickups as well as recycling services.
The family who owns this company lives in the neighborhood. Patrick, the owner and his wife Michelle bought their home in Boxborough a few years ago so that they could get more involved in the communities they serve. 
Customers get the best service from seasoned waste management and recycling professionals who utilize newer model, split-body trucks designed to process your trash and recycling in one pass. The split body truck means less large truck traffic on your street and in the neighborhood.
In addition to being hyper focused on customer service, Mr. Trashman is environmentally focused also. The split-body trucks decrease our fuel consumption because they can operate one truck when other companies are using two. Also, the newer model trucks fall under federal carbon emissions regulations, which lower sulfur emissions and help protect the environment. Both lower fuel consumption and lower sulfur emissions lower the carbon footprint of Mr. Trashman and keep the air cleaner in the communities we serve.
Personally – I’m one of their customers and think they’re the best of the three services we’ve had so far. The truck drivers are all polite, don’t speed through my neighborhood (unlike the big WM truck), and always wave and say hi to the kids. These guys are nice people.
