Lavender is one of the most familiar oils around, aside from lemon. But did you know there are many kinds of lavender? There’s English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish lavender among others. Its native to the Mediterranean area even though most of us are most familiar with French lavender. Some lavender is grown specifically to extract the oil, some for just how beautiful it looks in the garden.
In our house, lavender is the Swiss army knife of oils. Its great for settling down at night, for calming thoughts when trying to focus. We also use it for cuts and scrapes and fighting off ‘the bad guy germs’. Its an oil I add in to my shampoo to help combat excess oil in my hair. A benefit of this is that I don’t need conditioner any more! My hair is extra soft and behaves nicely without it. I also put a drop in my mascara container to help keep the germs away and condition my lashes. I seem to be loosing less eyelashes since I started doing this. I’ll use a bit on a skin blemish that pops up time to time, or drop some in my hand and huff the scent when I’m nervous or anxious.
